Diploma in Pharmacy
popularly known as D. Pharm or D. Pharma, is a two-year undergraduate diploma course offered by pharmacy colleges in India. The course is the minimum qualification to become a registered pharmacist in the country. Candidates having passed 10+2 exam or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths or Biology can eligible to pursue D. Pharm.
D. Pharma doesn’t provide specialization to choose from; only the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science are taught in this course. After successfully completing two years of D. Pharma and after registering with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or the state Pharmacy Council, one can set up his/her own pharmacy/chemist, in order to stock and sell medicines and dispense them according to a registered medical practitioner’s prescription. One can also become medical representative after pursuing the course.

The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing the course is a 10+2 or equivalent qualification in any stream from a recognized educational Board. Admission to the course is based on the candidate’s performance in a relevant entrance exam, or merit obtained in the last qualifying exam.
