BHMS or Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery
is an undergraduate academic degree course which covers medical knowledge of the homeopathic system. BHMS course is of 5½ year duration which includes an internship. The course can be pursued after completion of 10+2 level of education with 50% marks in aggregate. Admission to the program is based on entrance exams like NEET, KEAM etc. The average BHMS course fee ranges between INR 2 to 3 lacs. After completing the course, candidates candidates have a lot of career options and can jobs under various profiles such as Lecturer, Scientist, Doctor, Therapist to name a few. The average salary package offered to these employees ranges between INR 3.5 to 5 Lacs. Homeopathy is a different kind of system of medicine which involves treating patients with medicines made of highly diluted substances in mainly tablet form that triggers the body’s natural system of healing. BHMS course allows candidates to choose any specialization such as Homoeopathic Pharmacy, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Skin Specialist and Infertility to take care of patients with their homoeopathic study knowledge exposure.
BHMS course focuses on the alternative medical system of homeopathy. Homeopathy medical system was developed in Germany, at the end of 18th century. This medical system revolves around concepts like- like cures like and law of minimum dose. This medical system uses diluted solutions made from natural sources such as plants, animals and minerals for healing. Depending on the disease, the cure is extracted from the source and diluted (keeping in mind the law of minimum dose). The diluted remedy aids the body in self healing and thus relieves symptoms and restores good health.

Admission to some of the top institutes for BHMS course is done through entrance exam. Candidates need to go through different entrance exams conducted at the national level and state level.
Candidates are selected based on marks obtained in the respective entrance exam which is followed by a round of Group Discussion and Personal Interview. With this, skills and abilities of candidates can be judged and he/she is shortlisted. Those candidates who have successfully cleared the entrance test can appear for 1st round of counselling and then 2nd round of counseling which may be held for those candidates who have their names in waiting list
